Dr. Reichbach Talks Alternatives, Hope for Mental Health Awareness Month

While the world continues to learn and acknowledge the importance of mental health, the need for alternative treatment pathways for many becomes clearer. Board-certified anesthesiologist and experienced alternative care clinician Dr. Steven Reichbach delivers life-changing therapeutics for patients every day at Reichbach Center. Patients and caregivers seeking treatment for pain disorders, severe depression or other mental health needs are encouraged to call 941-213-4444 to learn about their options or be seen at 2415 University Parkway, Building 3, Suite 215.

One of the first full-time ketamine clinics in the state, Reichbach Center was established in 2016 and serves as a national center for the treatment of chronic pain and mental health disorders. Reichbach Center also offers medical cannabis assessments and expertise in emergent psychotropic treatments for pain and mental health, such as psilocybin, MDMA and mescaline. As the research continues and more data becomes available around specific protocols in the use of psychedelics for mental health, Reichbach Center will be poised to incorporate these modes of treatment into its practice.

“I see ketamine successfully combat treatment-resistant depression, chronic pain and a range of mental health concerns every day,” said Dr. Reichbach, “That is why we ensure that Reichbach Center stays at the forefront of evidence-based pain and mental health care solutions, including ketamine therapy as well as medical cannabis — treatments that offer new hope to those who haven’t found healing with conventional methods.”

Ketamine has proven to successfully treat a variety of conditions ranging from mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, to neuropathic and chronic pain. The treatment has shown to be effective in up to 90% of patients with severe depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and other mood disorders when conventional methods proved insufficient. Unlike most antidepressants, many patients experience dramatic relief after their very first ketamine infusion.

Ketamine infusion has been shown to provide sustained improvement in adults suffering from:

  • Anxiety disorders.
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome.
  • Several types of depression, including unipolar depression (major depression), bipolar depression and postpartum depression.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Suicidal ideations.

“Although ketamine is a very safe medication when administered by professionals, we recognize it can be intimidating because you may not be sure how you will respond to the treatment,” said Dr. Reichbach. “At Reichbach Center, we take the time to answer any and all treatment questions and concerns before you decide to become a patient-guest at our facility.”

Dr. Reichbach is a graduate of the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He trained in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital and completed his anesthesiology residency at Stony Brook University while also receiving specialty training in pain management and pediatrics. Dr. Reichbach has been board-certified in anesthesiology since 1994, and he has worked with ketamine for more than 20 years. Before moving to Sarasota in 2015, he practiced as a partner with an anesthesiology group in New York for nearly two decades. Dr. Reichbach is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists, and Practitioners.
