Ketamine Infusions Improve Depression Symptoms Within Hours

According to an article in Brain Tomorrow, treatment-resistant depression (TRD) patients struggle to find effective therapies that provide relief and improve their mental state. While antidepressants can be effective for some, they take about three weeks to fully kick in and begin working. Further, they don’t work well for everyone.

Ketamine infusions have shown to effectively reduce depression symptoms and work within hours. In a clinical study by a team from the Paris Brain Institute, Dr. Hugo Bottemanne and the research team determined that ketamine effectively improved depressed patients’ outlook on life, helping them have a more positive, optimistic, and level-headed perspective.

Like most drugs used to treat specific conditions, ketamine should be used under close supervision of a physician or an adequately trained medical professional.
